Our Pillars

Five pillars, one practice. Each pillar names a domain of life we serve, with a clear sense of what it includes and why it matters.

01

Bhakti · Devotion

The devotional heart of Sanatan Dharma, expressed in regular community practice.

What it includes

  • Satsang and kirtan gatherings
  • Scriptural study circles, including Ramayan and Hanuman Chalisa
  • Festival observance throughout the dharmic calendar
  • Personal practice support, mantra and meditation

Why it matters

Devotion grounds everything else we do. It is the daily, lived practice that turns belief into a way of being.

02

Sanskriti · Culture and Community

Culture as a living transmission, not nostalgia, and the community that carries it across generations, cities and traditions.

What it includes

  • Classical and folk music programs
  • Dance and the visual arts
  • Sanskrit and heritage language exposure
  • Food, fasting traditions, and festival cuisine
  • Storytelling that carries meaning, not just spectacle
  • Inter-generational gatherings, and partnerships with allied traditions and temples
  • Support during births, weddings, and bereavements
  • A welcome that is real, not performed

Why it matters

Culture is how a tradition speaks to a child, and community is what keeps it alive between the festivals. We carry the forms with care so the meaning travels with them, and we show up for each other in joy and in difficulty. That is the answer to isolation.

03

Vidya · Education

Knowledge passed on with care, from young children to elders.

What it includes

  • Youth leadership development
  • Scripture and history study at every age
  • Public talks and reading groups
  • Mentoring relationships across generations

Why it matters

Without vidya, dharma becomes ritual. We invest in learning so each generation inherits the depth, not only the surface.

04

Vyavahara · Modern Application

Bringing timeless wisdom into the realities of work, business, parenting, and public life in Australia.

What it includes

  • Business and professional leadership forums
  • Workplace ethics and decision-making circles
  • Parenting and family life programs
  • Personal growth and resilience initiatives
  • Civic engagement, dharma in public life

Why it matters

This is where Sanatan Australia is most distinct. We do not stop at the temple gate. We carry dharma into Monday morning, into the boardroom, into the conversations at the dinner table.

05

Svasthya · Health and Wellness

Whole-person well-being: caring for the body and mind that carry a life of dharma.

What it includes

  • Yoga and movement practice
  • Meditation and mindfulness
  • Holistic healing and Ayurvedic wisdom
  • Mental and emotional well-being
  • Wellness gatherings and workshops

Why it matters

A tradition that cares for the soul must also care for the body that carries it. We hold space for health and healing as part of a whole and balanced life.
