Sanatan Kids is our children’s program. It exists to put the sacred stories and texts of the Sanatan tradition into the hands of children growing up in Australia, in a form they can actually read.
Our children are the first generation to inherit this tradition entirely in English. They know the festivals but often not the stories behind them. They can sing the aarti but cannot tell you what it means. That gap is not their fault, and it is not rejection. It is simply that nobody has yet put the texts in front of them in a language and format they can meet.
If we do not build that bridge, the chain breaks in a single generation. So we are building it.
We are retelling the sacred texts as stories a child can read. Our first work is the Ramcharitmanas, Goswami Tulsidas’s telling of the life of Shri Ram. It is being broken into short stories, each finishable in one sitting, in two editions: one for ages 4 to 7, and one for ages 8 to 13. After that, the Bhagavad Gita, the Shiv Puran, and onward. The writing has already begun. Nothing is invented and nothing is added. Where a story is difficult, we tell it honestly at a level a child can meet. We do not remove it.
A digital platform, built and owned by Sanatan Australia, where every book we write will live. Children can read the stories, listen to them read aloud, learn the shlokas, and print things out. It will be free to every family in Australia. No advertising, no accounts, no data collected from children.
Sanatan Kids family events across the country: storytelling, creative arts, shloka practice, shared food. The books give a child the words. The gatherings give them a room full of other children who know the same words, and grandparents who have known them all along.
Any family. Open to all allied dharmic traditions and all backgrounds. We do not gatekeep and we do not rank.
Sanatan Kids draws on three of our five pillars: Vidya (education), Sanskriti (culture) and Bhakti (devotion). It is a long project, and we are at the beginning of it.
Every book we write and every gathering we host is funded by our community. Your donation helps us put the next story into a child’s hands.
